These are my final surface pattern collections I created. The top ones are my hand rendered ones, which I feel are more successful than my CAD prints. I also think they look better on the visualisations. The bottom collection is my cad collections which I created from a motif I made.

Stop Motion Animation!
When creating my yarn installation I had to take over 100 photos, documenting every change that happened. I also had to do this when taking it down so hat I could create a stop motion animation. To view the final video click on the link above.
Further Development For Final Collection!
I continued developing pieces of work to so that I can created my final hand rendered print collection. Instead of using paper I chose to use acetate, as I found it easier to work on to. I used a variety of medias and techniques: acrylic, gouache, batique and stitch. To apply the paints I used a brush and a sponge to create different effects.
Printing!

I created these mono prints in the printing room at college. I used stencils which I had drawn and cut out. I created these stencils from the development work I have done and also the observational drawings of my yearn installation. I used colours which were relevant - colours which I used in the yarn installation. I layered up colours and also used the stencil more than once when creating a print.
CAD Visualisations!
I created visualisations, using my CAD prints. i wanted to see what my prints would look like if they were made in to clothing. I put the different prints in to different items of clothing such as dresses, jumpsuit and trousers to see which they looked best in. These are not my final visualisations.
Development For Final Collection!
For my hand rendered collection I chose to use black, white and blue in my development pieces. I started to experiment with different medias such as pen, paint, brusho and stitch. I tried to develop certain pieces of work further to come up with more interesting and detailed ideas. for one of my development pieces photocopied the piece of work with two blue circles and then, on a blue brusho background, I stitched the two pieces of work together, going over the detailed parts of the drawing. I then ripped away the parts of paper I didn't want and left certain parts to create detail.

CAD Designs!
Creating a motif!
From my observational drawing I had to come up with motif's, which I could later develop in to a CAD print/ surface pattern design. I tried to keep the shapes and lines simple so that that pattern wasn't too busy and over the top. I chose to stick to using black and white when drawing the motif's.
I then developed one of the motif's to create a final motif on A2 paper. I slightly changed the motif so it was simpler, so I could easily develop it on the computer.

Observational Drawings
Theses are my observational drawings from the yarn installation. When doing these observations i decided to do close ups of the two different types of lace. I love the details in the lace and found it very interesting to draw. I also did line continuous line drawings of the full installation.
When i was doing these observational drawings i chose to use simple medias; different types of pens. i found that i could create more detail using pens as the lines are thin.

Yarn Bombing!
I was set the task of creating a yarn
installation.
I used different materials and
technique,
which I felt would interact best
with the
surrounding space.
I
chose to create my yarn installation in this
area
because I thought that the shapes and
colours in
this area were interesting.
I
chose to use plain colours such as black,
white, navy
and dark green. I used the light
colours to
cover up the dark areas and the
dark colours
to cover up/ fill the light areas and
open spaces.
My idea/ concept was to create
a
monochrome yarn installation.
Chiharu
Shiota's work was my inspiration for
this yarn
bombing piece. I like her choice of
dark
colours throughout her work.
